
Seems like a serious save bug related to survival mode. However i think the police join quest got bugged, i did all 3 quests and theres no way to progress it seems talking to the commander gives no new options? Also it was just super weird basically talking to people as if you have not talked to them before but then you could still finish the quest because the log still had the previous quests.

Also the time teleported back to like 0AM 12/3 or what the start date is i think. But the quests seem to be okay at least some? For instance there was no owner but his wife was there cuz I had that quest. When I get to outskirts again, the game played the into sequence again and my char was again waking up from bed in all his current gear lol, in the closet was a brand new copy of newb gear like key, sks, and the tutorial started again. However i noticed something: almost all areas I already visited were marked with ? as if i have not discovered them yet, and surely the game actually kinda reset. The game seemed to save fine after playing it again the next day.

Firing a burst tends to require you to be much closer than an aimed eye shot though.After playing the game for quite a while, I quit ofc using the main menu because the text tells you that in survival mode the game saves when exiting to the menu (even though you still get a msg "If you exit now unsaved data will be lost, really exit?" so probably this msg should be after an *If game mode = survival, dont show this msgbox* kinda code block) So I still quit to main menu because idk how else to save. I tend to usually level up auto weapons as well as rifles (ignoring all other weapon skills), just so I can use the occasional automatic for cases like these. In those cases, automatic weapons tend to be better than snipers (most of the time) - and you're less dependent on criticals with them. Note that there are some (scripted) battles where you start well within range of a bunch of enemies - these battles tend to be pretty tough even with companions. I've played through the game three times and this was the first time that I even found the US sniper rifle (it was in the Krasno weapon shop, cost me a ton but worth it). Note that your luck unfortunately also affects items in shops, so it might be some time before you find these weapons - if you ever get them at all.

These weapons feel almost abusive, since it's possible that the enemies won't move to engage you even after being shot! Feels almost like cheating. They're not quite as powerful as the experimental rifle, but their range makes up for it. There are also a couple of sniper rifles - such as the Dragunov and the US sniper rifle (forget what it's called), that have such a massive range that it's possible to take enemies out well outside of their range.

I also used companions, and they helped a lot since they take the heat (allowing you as the sniper to pick off the enemies out of their range). That said, there is a rifle you can get - the experimental one, from one of the bunkers - which has a better critical chance increase than the SKS with scope (I believe it has the highest critical chance of any weapon, though I can't remember what it was).

I played through the game with luck starting at 1 with the recent patch (to 1.5 or so), also expert, also went for manhunter, and although I definitely didn't seem to get as many criticals as I expected, I'd still get at least one per battle (on average). I assume you're going for eye shots? Aimed shots at eyes give you the biggest bonus for criticals (on top of any other bonuses). That said, the manhunter ability should give you a massive boost to criticals, and if I'm not mistaken the SKS with optics adds even more on top of that. Well criticals are partially dependent on luck, so lower luck = less chance of getting a critical.
